  EYEsee--Vision for the World

High School students that are idealist bound together by an ardent desire to help alleviate the world's poverty. The organization is composed of high school students from various schools in the Chicago Area. They are either Juniors or Seniors and are not gainfully employed, but that doesn't deter their spirit to reach out to those living in poverty. EYEsee was born out of this conviction.

EYEsee's Mission is to assist in improving the vision of the needy in third world countries by collecting used eyeglasses in America and recycling them. The donated eyeglasses will then be distributed to the disadvantaged in poorer areas of the world by religious Foundations and other qualified charitable organizations. EyeCare WeCare Foundation has worked this EYEsee almost from it's inception.

   Georgia Lions Lighthouse Foundation   http://www.lionslighthouse.org

The Georgia Lions Lighthouse Foundation is in Decatur Georgia. They are an outstanding non profit organization. They provide eye examinations, eyeglasses to prescription, hearing aids, vision screenings. They utilize a mobile eye clinic very much like EyeCare WeCare Foundation. Their target population are the indigent people that live in Georgia. They have to be uninsured and meet the poverty criteria in order to qualify. They provide collect recycled eyeglasses for organizations doing their work abroad. They have provided  our foundation with thousands of pairs of eyeglasses the last two years. We value our relationship with the Georgia Lions Lighthouse Foundation, without our supply of recycled eyeglasses, we would have little to offer the poor people in the Philippines who we serve.

Philippine Nurses Association of Northeastern Florida, Inc. (PNANEF)

The PNANEF was founded on May 23, 2004  by a group of caring and concerned Filipino Physicians. They invited a handful of Registered Nurses from different institutions of Jacksonville and Orange Park, Florida. The Doctors encouraged these nurses to form a Professional Nurses Organization representing hundreds of nurses from different counties of Jacksonville. Twelve very committed nurses from different institutions were willing to make a difference and had several meetings and decided to go for it. After completing the requirements  and necessary forms, the PNANEF was established. EyeCare WeCare Foundation has valued this partner because of it's dedication to help their brothers and sisters in the Philippines. They also help sponsor the Annual EyeCare WeCare Foundation Fundraising Golf Tournament in Jacksonville Florida.

   Resources for the Blind

Randy Weiser, President. Resources for the Blind and Dr. Jim Weyrich, President EcWc

Resources for the Blind began as a personal project of Dr. Arthur Lown to produce a Braille version of the Filipino Bible. Blind since childhood, Dr. Lown had retired as Director of the Atlanta Public Schools Services for Blind Students in 1970 and moved from the United States to the Philippines to serve as the administrator of the Manila branch of the Summer Institute of Linguistics. In 1980, three blind Filipino pastors, learning about Dr. Lown's interest in Bible translation, visited him to request his help in transcribing the Filipino Bible into Braille. Thus began the first project of what would become Resources for the Blind. Pictured above RBI director Randy Weisser and President EyeCare WeCare Foundation, Dr. Jim Weyrich.

RBI today deals with teaching Braille to the blind in the Philippines. RBI provides a full spectrum of services to blind people nation wide. The foundation     (1) produces Braille publications, bible, magazines and text books

                            (2) Educates blind children by teaching them Braille

                            (3) Educates teachers so they can teach Braille to the blind

                            (4) Provides eye surgeries for the poor and also provide vision screening in the schools to identify vision problems

                            (5) Provides low vision services and vision services and many other services.

EyeCare WeCare Foundation help Resources for the Blind get medical and surgical supplies and in turn they provide the eye surgeries (Cataract and Pterygium) at no cost to the poor people that we screen on our medical missions.  Our foundations work closely with one another to help reduce blindness in the Philippines.
