Support Maintenance and Repairs for our mobile clinic
Mobile Clinic
The mobile clinic was first purchased in 2007 in Cebu. It was a older passenger bus from Japan and it was converted to a mobile clinic. It worked well for a short time but it needed tires and the air conditioning didn't work well. Maintenance and repairs are a constant issue because of the exposure to the elements like salt water going on and off ferry boats, High temperatures and high humidity are also a challenge. The bumpy roads and heavy rains also take their toll.
In 2015 it was completely renovated with lots of metal rusting through the body and the whole front end of the bus had to be replaced with new metal, new paint, tinted windows, new logos, new seats and all new cabinets inside the bus.
2017 the engine quit and we had to rebuild it very quickly. It broke down in Tarlac so we found a garage that would let us rebuild the engine and we were able able to make the next mission one month later. Only the top half of the engine was replaced and the crank shaft was really the problem son the next year the engine failed again but also the transmission went out with it. The following year, 2018, the engine and transmission had to be completely be replaced.. This time the work was done by a bus company and was done correctly. The Air Conditioning was also repaired and new compressors were installed..
Air Conditioning compressors: The sensitive optical instruments on the bus need a clean and dry environment, or they will become damaged. When traveling to a Mission site, the volunteers cannot ride in a closed up bus due to the heat, and opening the windows lets in dust and moisture, effecting the instruments. The bus sits at our Makati headquarters between missions and coolant news to be added before each mission
General Maintenance and service through out the year as well as licensing fees and insurance are expenses that we have to budget for every year

Instruments and Supplies
Equipment and Instruments that are needed NOW
Digital Retinal Camera.
This instrument will help us manage our diabetic patients for their study of Diabetic Retinopathy we would need a Digital Retinal Camera. The fact that we see people who would otherwise not be seen will greatly enhance this research. Cost of a used digital Retinal Camera starts at $5,000 If you would like to donate one of these instruments for the foundation or would like to donate money towards one of these instruments, please donate below! Optical Coherence Tomography OCT
An imaging technique that uses low-coherence light to capture micrometer-resolution, two and tree dimensional images from within optical scattering media, It is similar to an MRI of the retina but uses light instead of magnetic imaging. It shows the health of the Retina,, the macula, the optic nerve, Arteries and Veins. ' This instrument is one of the most exciting advances in Optometry/ Ophthalmology. They are very expensive but we believe that there is a individual out there that would be willing to donate one to the foundation., A corporate gift, an eye doctor that has upgraded with a new one that is willing to donate one to EyeCare WeCare Foundation..
