Sponsors/Hosts for the January 2013 medical vision mission are pretty much summed up with the Banner/Tarp that was present at the venue sites of the mission
The mission was made possible because of a Lions International Foundation Grant (LCIF). The Sponsoring organization was Lions MD 19G in Southwest Washington State, USA. the Host organization was the Olongapo City New Horizon Lions club from District 301-D1, Zambalas, Philippines. Lion Cesar Santiago, MJF was the Host coordinator from Olongapo and Lion Jim Weyrich, O.D. MJF was the Sponsoring coordinator for the mission.
Lions MD 19G put up the finances for the matching LCIF AIG Grant The Aberdeen Lions coordinated the medical mission sending one of its members (Dr. Jim Weyrich) to participate
The Hosting Club, The Olongapo City New Horizons Lions Club provided the venue site plus food, lodging and transportation for the volunteers. They screened the recipients to prove indigency, provided transportation for the cataract recipients to the hospital where the free surgeries were performed. The coordinator host was Cesar Santiago from the New Horizons Lions Club. The three other surrounding Lions clubs also were present every day and contributed greatly to the success of the medical / vision mission. The Golden Heights Lions Club, The Olongapo Primera Lions Club and the Subic Bay Lions Club.
Bausch & Lomb, a long time partner, donated To EyeCare WeCare Foundation, Cataract Surgery supplies for 100 Intraocular Lenses (IOL's), the viscoelastics, eye medications, surgery knives,
SEE International provided the Nylon Sutures, anesthetics, syringes, surgical gloves and other surgery medications for the mission.
Resources for the blind, another longtime partner, provided the operating microscopes, surgery instruments, surgery nurses and procured the volunteer Filipino ophthalmologists who performed the eye surgeries plus arranged for the donated surgery sight.
EyeCare WeCare along with its 25 seasoned volunteers, provided all the high tech instruments to give a comprehensive eye examination to 1,984 indigents, providing them with free eyeglasses, eye medications and screened for the Cataract Surgeries.
EyeCare WeCare received its eyeglasses LERC (Northwest Lions Eyeglasses Recycling Center) in Olympia, Washington, USA, the Oregon Sight and Hearing Foundation in Portland, Oregon, USA. The biggest source of the recycled eyeglass (which was omitted from the Banner) is the Northwest Kiwanis Clubs SOS (save old spectacles) program.
Hawaiian Airline helped to provide free shipping of the medical and surgery supplies (they have done this for the last 5 years)
Private Donors that were a tremendous help and the mission could not have taken place without the additional funding for the replacement of the Transmission for the mobile clinic.
